Edible Sculpture is a drop-in workshops series focusing on non-Western art objects. Masks of Africa creates an opportunity for children to explore food as an artistic medium while learning about African masks historically associated with agricultural societies or harvest celebrations. Children use fresh fruits and vegetables to recreate a mask, and peanut butter, hummus, or yogurt to hold their materials together. The activity ends with a healthful snack and new knowledge about the purpose of masks, what they represent, and more.
